70 participants attended the Information session for IaaS+ Suppliers held on April 23 2021. The session offered insights on some of the most important topics related to Cloud Services for the research and education community.
The GEANT Cloud Team presented explanations of the roles and responsibilities of the Contract Management Group, which handles the daily operations of the framework and responds to provider queries. The Cloud Adoption Support Team also outlined their role, which is to support the Cloud community within GEANT by facilitating the adoption of cloud services, outreach and cloud service usage, strengthening NREN’s national cloud service capabilities, competencies and cloud service usage skills.
In addition to learning about different tools and channels, suppliers learned more about the different methods to award Call-Off Contracts – direct awards without reopening competitions, desktop mini-competitions based on awarding criteria in tender and supplier bids and regular mini-competitions requiring further input from suppliers.
Suppliers also gained insight into the roles NRENs can play in engaging with potential and existing customers. As an Underwriter, an NREN makes purchases on behalf of institutions. As a Referrer, an NREN acts as an intermediary by making the framework agreements available and facilitates purchasing, rather than a sales channel.
