Guidelines

  • GEANT Cloud Security Checklist (March 2022) This document can be a starting point to help institutions manage various aspects of cloud security, to develop solid security practices or to benchmark the current status of security development and further enhance security strategy. (PDF)
  • GDPR Transfer Guide for National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) on the 2020 IaaS+ Framework This document is intended for use by NRENs seeking to use, or actively using, the 2020 IaaS+ Framework. (PDF)
  • GÉANT 2020 IaaS+ Framework Cookbook - The cloud team has put together a cookbook for the IaaS+ framework agreement. It offers step-by-step instructions on how to use the framework agreements, and is designed to help the NREN cloud service delivery managers enrol, adopt and provide IaaS services to their community. (PDF)
  • Preferential Quotation Fact Sheet - Preferential Quotations (PQs) are special legally non-binding offers made by cloud service providers (suppliers) that can be used by Research & Educational institutions, NRENs and the GÉANT Association. Preferential Quotations are not the result of an EU compliant procurement process conducted by GÉANT. Any institution or NREN who wishes to take advantage of preferential quotations are advised to adhere to their local procurement and tender regulations. (PDF)

  • Cloud Strategy Guide for Institutions - Universities and research institutions must adopt a strategic approach to ensure successful cloud services adoption in order to meet strong demand for IT-supported research and education.   • Cloud Requirements - By aggregating demand across the community and negotiating integrated brokerage, framework contracts, terms and conditions of use, NRENs and the research and education community will be able to get the best possible value from cloud services. As part these efforts, GÉANT has prepared documentation that highlights the appropriate right conditions of use needed to engage. (PDF)
  • Cloud Data Classification Tool - When developing or migrating services to the cloud it is vital you understand the data implications. GÉANT has developed a tool to help you identify any potential issues with cloud migrations (Link)

National Tender Bundles (for NRENs only)

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) - For countries who wish to offer Learning Management Systems (LMS) via national tenders, the GÉANT cloud team has prepared a tender template bundle to save NRENs time and resources. The pre-packaged tender bundle consists of a Request for Tender (RFT) document, a Framework agreement and Call-off agreement. These documents are available for NREN cloud contacts in the GÉANT Intranet Document Repository(Federated login required.
