Cloud services, or IT services over the Internet, empower users to select and use services they need in an easy, intuitive and cost-effective way. Research and education network providers (NRENs) are agile and can best provide users with a wider range of relevant IT services at a faster pace than commercial providers, to facilitate the dynamic collaboration academic research needs.
Because of the unique requirements and operational frameworks of the higher education and research community, provision of cloud IT services must address challenges on trust, security, privacy, legislation, procurement and interoperability.
In GÉANT, we work to overcome these challenges in an integrated and coordinated effort to provide scalable, relevant conditions of use for cloud connectivity and availability.
